Free Games and Stuff
So, it turns out that there's some pretty decent commercial games that have been released as freeware. The three I downloaded were pretty good games, though I don't think I'd have ever actually bought them. But free, they're definitely worth a download. I got them all from Gamershell.com
Full Spectrum Warrior
The Suffering
Area 51
So...yea.

Savage 2: A Tourtured Soul
For most players, the game is played as an FPS/ Action RPG game. You choose a side (humans or beasts), and do your best to take out the enemy command center. Melee fighting is done in an over-the-shoulder view, and comprises of the main portion of the gameplay. You attack by clicking, block with middle mouse button, and charge/dodge with RMB. Pretty standard, except when blocking, you have a block bar that is knocked down with each hit, and can be broken with a strong attack. It's different, and takes some getting used to in order to get the most out of it, but you can circle strafe until you do.
Ranged weaponry plays like a pretty standard FPS, and is mainly used to snipe at enemies, and take down low-health ones. As the humans, you get medieval weapons (just as crossbows and longbows) as well as steampunk weaponry (such as "The Ravisher", a steam-powered chain gun). Beasts get magical attacks such as lightning.
Each team also has one player who is their commander. They see the game as an RTS, and with all the characters being the other players (with exception of a builder type NPC). The commander is in charge of building structures and gold mines, as well as giving orders to the players. I haven't had the chance to play as commander yet, but it seems like a challenging-but rewarding- job.
There are some issues in the game, though in my short time playing I haven't found many. But hey, for free, they can easily be overlooked.
There is also an option for a premium account, which is a $10 one-time payment, which gives you 2 extra inventory slots, access to player's lifetime stats, the ability to play as the special "Hellbourne" units an unlimited amount of times (free players can only spawn as them once per match), and the ability to watch a replay of every Savage 2 match ever played.
Oh, and if you run into MasterWaldo, you'll know it was me. Probably you'll have killed me- the game does have a bit of a learning curve. It's still a blast to play even if you aren't sure what you're doing though :)

Ugggh.
Oh well. It's kind of exciting.
I'm not even really sure why I'm posting it here. Just needed a new post I guess. Been more than a week, and I want this to be updated at least once a week.
I should have something fun to go up next time.

A Dream
Enjoy.
"I dreamt of her again last night,
standing in the soft moonlight,
in the forest of glass and steel.
She looked at me with eyes wide, bright,
and I knew the time was right,
to tell her what I feel.
I turn towards her, standing there,
wind flowing through her hair,
lovely auburn strands,
We step together, we are so near,
I want to tell her that I care,
and reach out for her hands.
Our lips draw close, about to kiss,
when I sense something amiss,
all is not well here;
Behind my back I hear a hiss,
turn around, did not want this,
a laser, coming from a bear.
Flash of steel beside my face,
something flies into the space,
between me and my love;
Katana swings, frighting pace,
Ninja team is now in place,
Leaping from the sky above.
Great white shark, up from the ground,
chasing Optimus Prime around,
demanding it gets some respect;
As robots march into the fray,
zombies rise up from the grave,
looking for brains to feast;
I run with her, we hope and pray,
just to last one more day,
or be alone again at least.
But it will not be so, I am afraid,
for across the path a shadow played,
and a pale cloaked man appeared.
We fled the path, to search for aid,
but followed we where by this horrible shade,
a vampire, as we feared.
She stumble on a fallen root,
and so he finished his pursuit,
and feasted on her blood;
He turned to me, I stood mute,
I found a gun, but could not shoot,
As I looked down at my love.
He bared his fangs, and moved to me,
I tore a branch off from a tree,
and through his heart drove the stake;
As I look back I now can see,
a piece of wisdom for you, free,
That pizza before bed, I should not have ate."

Untitled- A Post With No Title
Been playing a lot of Hearts of Iron 2 lately. If you aren't familiar with it, its a WWII grand strategy game, where you are in charge of a nation (most of the nations of WWII are playable, and there's tons that can be spawned. For example, as the UK you can release and create India, Pakistan, create the "Eastern African Union" from a bunch of African territories, Scotland can be created if your people revolt, all sorts of things). Anyway, you're in charge of the nation's production, research, and to a slight degree, politics (and intelligence services in the Doomsday expansion). It's really fun, if you're into those type of games. If you don't like strategy games, this is not for you.
I've also become a really huge fan of the TV show Firefly, and am angry at FOX for canceling it. I mean, they didn't even let them finish the season! Oh well, I'm a few years too late to really complain. I've seen about 1/2 the season, been watching it on Hulu, and really want to get the series on DVD. I've also rented the movie Serenity, though I've been told it's not quite as good as the series. We'll see I guess.
I also just bought Railroad Tycoon 3. I played 2 all the time when I was younger, then it mysteriously went missing when we remodeled our house. I played the demo for 3 a while ago, and even though it's sort of a little kids game (not little little kids, but it really is more for pre 12-year olds) it's still great fun.
Well then, I'm going to finish this post and go have a brownie. Later.

New Map Thingymabob
You know, come to think of it, I'm not really even sure why I posted this. People who read this on a semi-regular basis will notice it easily, and those who don't or haven't read my blog yet probably don't really care. I must just be lonely. :(
Presenting- Rocket Turtle
Up next is a picture telling the story of a turtle that is sick and tired of going slow. He wants to go fast. Blazing fast. Really super duper blazing fast. Like that fast that you know you should slow down, but want to keep going faster. Like that fast. But even faster. So, how did he solve this dilemma? Like any well educated reptile would: by strapping a rocket to his back.
So, with out further ado, I present Rocket Turtle.
OK, so on further review, it's more of a jet than a rocket. But he's a turtle, how is he supposed to know the difference? I mean, its not like he went to college or anything. He couldn't exactly fill out the applications considering he hasn't got any thumbs! But know, you all expect him to have a rocket, and he's got a jet instead, and that just isn't good enough for you. Well, at least he's trying. Can't you at least give him that? I mean, come one! Have you ever strapped a jet to your back? I didn't think so.
That's it for now. We're getting close to the end here, so I probably need to try and come up with some new stuff. Adios.

That is pretty awesome. And that's only in the past 100 views- no idea if there were any before that. I'll try and find a good activity map to put up so you all don't think I'm just blowing smoke. Of course, if smoke were coming out of my lungs, I probably wouldn't be healthy enough to type this...

Just kinda bored
I’m bored at the moment, waiting for Visual C++ 2008 to finish downloading, so I guess I’ll make a post.
Got my new laptop Wednesday. It’s beautiful. Truly it is. More powerful than either of my other 3 combined. I guess that’s not really saying much though- my other 3 are a 9 yr. old desktop, an 11 yr. old laptop, and a bargain bin PC my friend gave away for free. Nonetheless, a dual-core 2.66GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, and 256MB HD graphics card feels wonderful. Especially on the 17” widescreen Hi-Res screen, and with a 320GB HDD running at 7200 RPM as my main disk (planning on getting a portable at some point). I doubt anyone this is addressed to will read this, but thanks to all my friends and family that helped pay for it with the graduation money they gave me.
It really is an awesome laptop (Dell Studio 17). I tend to multitask a computer to death, but this should be able to handle me. For now. One day I want something with Intel’s Core i7 at its heart, but that will be a ways off.
While I didn’t get it with these specs in order to game, it is pretty excellent at gaming. I was actually able to play Company of Heroes on it at full settings w/o a hiccup. And it was jaw-dropping. That is a great game.
Been reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Its good, though I get the feeling I’d be getting more out of it had I actually read Jane Austen’s book. Oh well, it’s a good zombie book in its own rights.
On the subject of zombies- well, more connecting zombies to scary stories/movies- I watched Repo: The Genetic Opera a few days ago. For those who aren’t familiar with it, its a play turned film directed by the guy who directed several of the Saw films. It’s pretty good, though definitely do not let little kids watch it- lots of gore and sexuality, some swearing, and a bit of nudity.
So then. Yea. Like I said, I’m bored at the moment, but I do plan on continuing this and returning to updating semi-regularly.

Sheesh, I need to update
So then, what's been going on recently. I've been nuked (CyberNations :) ), hardly anyone came to my graduation party (mostly due to the large number of parties already going on- oh well, more food for me), went to a few parties, ogled a friends new MacBook Pro, looking forward to getting my own laptop before long. That's about it.
Oh yea, finally beat BioShock. Got the "good" ending. Got Fallout 1 and 2, and Tactics (GREAT fun, by the way. They've been put out as a trilogy pack for $20!). And just got Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Look forward to reading it, will do some sort of review on it afterwords.
That is all. Peace out.

First bits
Here's some sneak peek bits of our trebuchet. A video *should* be coming, as well as more pics.
It used an ~ 4.5 kg cinder block as its counter-weight, and could hurl a baseball 30-50 feet (averaged around 45 ft) at around 30 mph. The whole thing (arm attached) is about 7 ft tall. The axle is a steel bar going through a pair of bearings on either side supporting beam.
It is pretty darn sweet :)
Hopefully more to come later.

Heaven 'n Hell
Here it is: Heaven 'n Hell. Just the first name that popped into my mind.
This is the real reason Lucifer became the Devil. He and Jesus were in a garage band together, and they got into an argument over who got to play the awesome guitar solo in their new song. Unfortunately, they were unable to decide, and Satan left the band, and tried to start his own, more awesome band. When no one would join, he tried to usurp Jesus' spot, and got kicked out of Heaven. True story.
No idea who the drummer would be, just thought that he needed an afro.

I H8 Bees
This is my favorite picture. I may have said that about one of my others already, but this one tops that. This picture is so awesome, it has two names. FireMan and I Hate Bees. Frankly, I hate all insects, since an incident when I was three where some carpenter ants decided that my bed made a nice apartment.
So, here it is, I Hate Bees:
In this picture, we see the aftermath of an innocent young man coming across some evil, murderous bees. They have lit him on fire, and are chasing him around with an axe. They are furry little manifestations of pure evil. And buzziness. Can't trust 'em. Flying around in stripes, stealing pollen, selling tooth-rotting honey to innocent young children. Dying when they sting you. Its a conspiracy I tell you! They'll turn you into one of them! That's just what we need, a bunch of Zombees (get it?). Ok, so puns aren't funny. But still, you probably get my point. I don't like bees. I mean, look what they did to this guy! And no, I don't know how they lit him on fire, or where they found the axe, or how they're chasing him with it. Its because they're evil.
Bees are evil.
Happy Easter! Plus new post.
On another note: We got Halo Wars! Woot woot! Its pretty awesome, coming from a fan of Halo, RTS games, and Ensemble Studios. I can definitely see problems people could have with it: its campaign is too short, there is no Covenant campaign, the story, while really good, is a little predictable (pretty similar to the rest of the series in terms of what happens). And on lower difficulties (I played through on Normal) the enemy AI isn't that intelligent and a bit predictable.
However, the good outweighs the bad. The story is really good, the graphics are quite good (downright amazing on pre-rendered scenes, still really good in gameplay), the sound effects are straight up Halo, the soundtrack as well, the gameplay is pretty solid. I give it an 80/100.
So, have fun with whatever the Easter Bunny brings, and remember the true reason to celebrate.
God's Blessings
MW
P.S.- Oh, and Halo Wars has an AWESOME (underlined, glowing, and on fire as well) cut scene where a group of Spartans are fighting a bunch of elites. Think ninja spies in battle armor with guns. That are on fire. An epic, awesome fire. That rocks. And you'll have a fraction of the awesomeness. And the main character goes total bada$$ on the Arbiter. Old Arbiter, not the one from Halo 3. Its pretty sweet.
IMHO.

Truly Epic
This next picture is truly epic, and thus is its title. It will need a little explanation I suppose, but that does not diminish its epicness.
I give you: Truly Epic
This is a picture of a velociraptor that is on fire playing the guitar with its eye lasters while a ninja sneaks up behind it. Never will you find a picture more awesome than this. Unless the ninja was on fire too. And had a lightsaber. Drats! It's not epic enough!

Muffin Man Digital and Colored
Muffin Man
Second, this one (possibly) have a colored version going up soon. Normally I either doodle it on the computer, or sketch it out and leave it in black and white. This one I scanned in and am going to try adding some color to it. If it turns out fine, I may do it with other ones as well.
I might be putting up a different version of this at some time. It doesn't feel quite finished. But I wanted to get it up tonight.
Yes, it is a muffin cooking up a batch of people. And it is a little girl muffin and a baby muffin in the corner. And the little man is trying to climb out of the muffin tray. I really don't have a clue on this one.
This is (IMHO) one of my better sketches. I really like how it turned out, though it took a while to figure out the best way to put it on the paper. This was also drawn on regular printer paper, not the sketch paper I usually use. If I make an updated version, I'll be sure to upload it.
Now then, on to the digital version.

Zombie Butter!
So here it is: Zombie Butter vs. Toast Man
There's not really a whole lot to say about this one. Its an armed piece of toast fighting of a stick of zombified butter. Frankly, that's all there is to it.

I <3 Companion Cube
From FanFiction.net, by encoder,
Once upon a level dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,Coster 3
Once upon a level dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious puzzle of forgotten lore,
While I starved, nearly collapsing, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my level door.
'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, tapping at my level door -
Only this, and nothing more.'
From Limerick DB:
There once was a buggy AI
Who decided her subject should die.
When the plot was uncovered,
The subjected discovered
That sadly the cake was a lie.
Real Life Portal Gun
This one has got to be the coolest thing of them all. Not only did he create a real looking portal gun, he built it at his girlfriend's request. That's right. He has a girlfriend who enjoys video games to the point where she cosplays, and wanted to dress up as Chel from Portal. Lucky dude.
Well, that's my geekiness for today. Or maybe not. Never can tell with me.
It's a massacre!
I wanted him to find the tiny top hat and cane he made so we could set it up as "Mr. Planter's Murder", but he couldn't find them. Oh well. Nonetheless, here is "Murder of a Legume".
Note: These were taken with my phone, which only has a 1.3 megapixel camera, at 640x480. Not the greatest quality, but my dad's digital camera was dead, so we didn't have other options.

Balloon
My piece is a random drawing of several different characters that are just kinda standing there doing nothing. Doing more nothing than usual, since they're technically always doing nothing, as they are nothing more than 2D drawings on a piece of paper.
Anyway, here is Balloon.
Yea, I really don't know either. Just a bunch of random doodles, exploring some different looks at stuff, testing things out. Gotta love the scared little penguin down at the bottom. Little eyebrows flying up. Pretty sweet.
That's all for this one.

Done with the Zombie thing
Here are some zombie jokes from barhah.com. Most of them aren't really that funny, or are just rehashes of old jokes, but I figured this little zombie run wouldn't be complete with out them.
- Two zombies and a human go into a bar. The first zombie says to the other zombie, "Graaaghaa haarann margahhaa naaarrrrrrgnn!"
The other zombie says "Hrraaaaa Maggaa GRAMMA GRAMMA bargh nrrrrhr!"
And then they eat the human. - Why did the zombie go to hospital?
He wanted to learn, a few sick jokes. - How do you know a zombie is tired?
He's dead on his feet. - What do little zombies play?
Corpses and Robbers. - What did the zombie get a medal for?
Deadication. - What's a zombie say when he gets a letter from his girlfriend?
It's a dead-letter day. - Where do zombies go for cruises?
The Deaditerranean Sea. - What did the zombie's friend say when he introduced him to his girlfriend?
Good grief! Where did you dig her up from? - What do you call a zombie in a belfry?
A dead ringer. - What did the zombie eat after its teeth were pulled out?
The dentist. - What does a zombie eat for dinner?
Graghetti and Meatballs - What does a zombie like to wear?
A Braincoat - What's a zombie's favourite film?
Brainspotting
Singin' in the Brain
Eternal Sunshine of the Headshotless Mind
Some Like It Headshot
That's all. There were a few more, but they really weren't that funny.
And this (hopefully) concludes the Zombie theme for today. Until next time, blarrgh argha blaga, Brains! Muuhhhhhh balaaghahara!
Favorite Zombie movie: Shaun of the Dead- "A man decides to turn his moribund life around by winning back his ex-girlfriend, reconciling his relationship with his mother, and dealing with an entire community that has returned from the dead to eat the living" (imdb.com) Hilarious movie, part parody of the genre, part actual horror film, part romantic comedy. Main characters are the same guys in Hot Fuzz, if you like that movie.
Favorite Zombie book: World War Z by Max Brooks- Same guy who wrote Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z is an oral history of the Zombie outbreak of the near future. It is written as a series of interviews starting with witnesses of some of the first cases of "African Rabies", up to the aftermath of the war for survival. Really, really great book.
Favorite Zombie game: Dead Rising. This is actually one of the only ones I've played. That's right, I have not played Resident Evil. I'm sorry. When RE5 gets cheap, I'll probably get it and likely enjoy it. But for now, its Dead Rising. Or the PBBG DeadAwaken (in my "Favorite Online Games", check it out). Looking forward to Dead Rising 2.
Zombie book I'm looking forward to reading : Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith. Came out earlier this month. I haven't read P&P, but I really want to read this. And I definitely think that, if it's any good, plenty of other classics could do with zombies in them (Tale of Two Cities, Grapes of Wrath, and 1984, just from the ones I've read in Lit classes). Not that these classics aren't good books as they are, just that everything is better with zombies involved.
That's all I can think of at the moment. I think the zombie theme may be over for today, but you never know.
P.S.
Forgot Favorite Zombie Song. "Re:Your Brains" by Jonathan Coulton, of course. How many zombie songs are there?
Zombies are Gross
I can not remember what inspired me to do this. It must have been a late night and lots of soda. I did spend a lot of time playing Dead Rising over the summer, so that may have affected my mind somehow. Who knows. I do remember trying various looks for the zombie before settling on the one in the picture. I really like what I wound up with. Its a good zombie for being a black and white stick figure.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. The people are afraid of the zombie, grossed out by it, and in awe of its tennis prowess. Except for the guy on the right. He's just bummed because he got whupped by a zombie. I mean, if you lost 40-Love to a dead guy, wouldn't you be upset? That's got to be a tough pill to swallow.
Just noticed that you can see some of the eraser marks on it. Well, I'm no fancy artist. These were all done with a simple mechanical pencil. And most of them late at night, where sleep deprivation and a day of sugar and caffeine take their toll on the mind.
So then, hope you enjoy this one. We'll have to see if this "theme" thing works out. I think I could run with it.
More Zombies!
For those of you who play the game Portal (one of the sweetest games ever IMO), Jonathan wrote the credits song "Still Alive", and played guitar for the game's sequence of it.
Re: Your Brains in LA 10-9-2006
Zombies!
1) Board up my house. Only one entrance is at ground level, and its in the garage and a heavy door, so it would be difficult for zombies to get in.
2) Find everything that can be used as a weapon.
3)Get to the roof (possible through the attic) and paint a "Help" message in orange paint (have some left from painting my room)
4) Get portable radio and listen for help.
5) Leave with help once it arrives.
OR
1) Run outside and become a zombie. Woo! Brains!

Come to think of of it, this would be better than buying a mini-fridge to keep bacon in my dorm next year. Hmm...
A pet I'd like.
Definitely a penguin. It would make life awesome because people would look at it and say "That guy has a penguin. He must be one cool frood".

When I get bored, I sketch, doodle, and draw. On my notes, homework, Paint, GIMP, notebooks, whatever. A while ago, I uploaded a bunch of my favorites onto Flickr. You can see there here if you wanted too. But that would be cheating. So don't do it.
My plan is to put one up here every day or so, and put a little description of it so you, the willing and lovely reader, can
So with out further ado, I present my first lovely image, doodled while waiting for Xbuntu to install on my laptop, Angry Robot.
This is a robot who is quite angry. He has dropped his burger, and the puffin flying overhead is pooping on it. Pretty simple. The explosion of color behind him represents the fact that all the white space back there looked boring.
So there you have it. The unveiling of my first (which is actually the last created) masterpiece.

Rule Your Own Nation!
CyberNations is a persistent browser based game that lets you rule your own nation. It has many similarities to NationStates, and many CN players started off in NS.
However, while NationStates lets you rule through a series of events and decisions, CyberNations lets you control and collect taxes, pay bills, build a military, engage in war, trade, and a whole bunch of other stuff (I know NS2 lets you do some of this, but its not anywhere near like CN).
Furthermore, CyberNations has a great community. On the official CN forum, you can chat with each other, role play, announce great events in your nation, and play games. There are also more than 100 different alliances to join, most of which have there own off-site forum, or you can start your own. Alliances are a great place to meet new people and new friends. Finding an alliance is beneficial to you in order to grow, be secure, and have fun.
The game is all text-based, and doesn't require much time to play. You can spend quite a bit of time on it if you get involved, though, and that can make the game really fun.
One of the key elements of the game is that it is quite simple. It doesn't have too bad of a learning curve, especially if you find a good alliance. It is not the most in depth nation simulator out there, but the simplicity does make it more accessable to the typical gamer.
All in all, CN is definitely a game to try out if you are interested in geo-political sims, ruling your own nation, or just looking for something different.
